This Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) / Professional Technologist (P. Tech) role will include a wide range of tasks requiring a self-motivated individual who is comfortable working independently, can prioritize tasks, and has excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING…

• Leading, coordinating, and/or preparing CAD drawings and design packages in collaboration with other MAGNA teams.

• Providing technical input on design layout constructability and offering practical perspectives on design viability.

• Developing drawings, visualizations, and graphics.

• Utilizing and improving existing drawing standards.

• Aiding in furthering the development and implementation processes that will enhance MAGNA’s project delivery.

• Meeting MAGNA’s quality standards, processes, and methods while maintaining a working knowledge of relevant technologies, best practices, and regulations.

• Monitoring industry trends and implementing appropriate methods to keep production on the cutting edge while meeting financial goals and providing cost savings to clients.

• Developing, training, and educating new and junior colleagues.

• Acting as a technical liaison between project team members.

• Other duties as required.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO…

• Is a practising Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Professional Technologist (P. Tech) with applicable experience in municipal and/or land development in the Calgary Region.

• Has at least 2+ years’ experience in engineering detailed design drafting.

• Has expertise in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Applications.

• Has experience contributing to civil engineering design elements, including grading design, underground utility design (storm, sanitary, water, irrigation), structures and manholes, stormwater and/or lift stations, road layouts and turning movements, etc.).

• Has excellent attention to detail.

• Has strong personal time management skills.

• Has strong technical writing and presentation skills.

• Holds a valid Canadian driver’s license and reliable access to a car.

• Has their (Alberta) legislated Covid-19 vaccinations up-to-date.

• Is eligible to work in Canada.

PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WHO HAVE…

• Construction management and/or site inspection experience;

• Experience working in the City of Calgary and an understanding of City of Calgary drafting standards and practices;

• Experience working on large multi-disciplinary project teams and can effectively demonstrate team leadership, accountability, and communication;

• A strong understanding of municipal engineering best practices, processes, and standards in the Calgary Region;

• Experience with GIS;

• Experience working with Indigenous communities;

• Strong project management and task management capabilities alongside proven team leadership and collaboration.
