ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Intermediate Stormwater Engineer, you’ll apply your advanced expertise—typically acquired through a combination of education and hands-on experience—to lead projects and processes with confidence. You’ll work independently with limited supervision, coach and review the work of junior staff, and navigate occasionally complex engineering challenges.
With a solid foundation of technical proficiency and leadership, you’ll independently manage projects and collaborate across disciplines to deliver forward-thinking solutions.
Your role will include:
Manage engineering project tasks with technical proficiency, working independently.
Responsible for designing, analyzing, and managing stormwater systems to effectively control water runoff, mitigate flood risks, improve water quality, and comply with environmental regulations, utilizing expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater modeling software to develop sustainable urban drainage solutions
Responsible for collaborating with other engineers, planners, and government agencies to ensure project compliance and client community needs are met.
Leading stormwater projects from conception to completion, including site investigations, feasibility studies, design development, permitting, construction oversight, and post-construction monitoring.
Participate in MAGNA’s high-energy, dynamic culture, contributing to innovative projects in stormwater management and other alternative water design services.
Preparing technical reports, design drawings, and presentations to document project findings and recommendations.
Develop creative solutions based on project requirements, company standards, and industry best practices, using simulations and modeling for design analysis.

SALARY RANGE: $105,000 - $135,000 / YR
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR…
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (APEGA and/or BCPEG member).[JL1] [EM2]
5-10 years of relevant experience in stormwater or municipal engineering.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a team environment.
Self-management of tasks and time.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
A valid Canadian driver’s license and reliable access to a car.
Eligibility to work in Canada.
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WHO HAVE…
Deep understanding of stormwater management best practices and regulations.
Experience working in Calgary, with familiarity with City of Calgary drafting standards and processes.
Knowledge of municipal engineering practices in the Calgary region.
Experience with PCSWMM, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and/or GIS.
Experience working with Indigenous communities.
Strong project management and team leadership skills.
Experience working with Indigenous communities.
