MAGNA Awarded 2024 Water Emerald Award for Environmental Excellence

MAGNA Engineering Services Inc. is proud to announce that we have been awarded the 33rd Annual Water Emerald Award for Environmental Excellence by the Alberta Emerald Foundation. The award is in relation to our work on the Livingston Pond E MAGNA Stormpark™️.

The Livingston Pond E Stormpark is a beautifully designed and highly functional stormwater management system in Northwest Calgary. It encompasses 500 ha of serviced development area. The design includes a natural sediment clarifier in the form of a Nautilus Pond®️ that discharges directly into a storage pond, where the water is then polished in engineered treatment wetlands. To read more about the project, please see the project profile here.

At MAGNA, our vision is engineering with nature AND people. And we believe that, in order to protect our planet, we have to think about solutions that balance the needs of society and the natural world. And really, our project … the Livingston Stormpark is a practical manifestation of that balance between the natural world and societal needs...because it balances stormwater engineering, ecosystem services, and amenity and programming of an open space.
— Dr. Anton Skorobogatov, MAGNA's Director of Innovation
